The classic Cinerama movie theater in downtown Seattle reopens today with a major renovation by Paul Allen.  The theater will feature a Christie 6P laser projector, which is said to be the first in a commercial theater, providing an enhanced picture for movie buffs.

Designed by Studio 440 and completed by Abbott Construction, other upgrades include new screens, sound systems, and wider chairs that provide more legroom.  On the exterior, patrons are wowed by a mural painted by local studio artist Invisible Creature.

Perhaps most importantly, the food has also been upgraded, appealing to Seattle’s foodies with Brave Horse Tavern pretzels, gourmet hot dogs and sausages, and sweets from Theo Chocolate, Cupcake Royale, and Full Tilt Ice Cream. Drinks will be provided by Elysian Brewing Co., Fremont Brewing Co., Seattle Cider Co., and Proletariat Wine Co.

The Cinerama reopens just in time for the release of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” tonight at 8:00pm.
